Hello

Impossible to set up my jib correctly Angry

My above and below telltales are never // together

Or correct above or below Cry

Do you think it's possible to add battens in my jib (he's still very nice) and could this solve the problem?

Thanks

Camille

Battens will not alter the shape of the leading edge.
What battens will do is cause you a lot of hassle if you want to change sails. You cannot simply fold the sail when dropping or stuff it down below without removing the battens. Same for hoisting. I cannot change from genoa to ST at sea( or vice versa) because i have to play with the battens & kneeling on the sail on the foredeck to retain it can be dangerous in any sort of sea as it is easy to slip.

If your sail is breaking at the head whilst your bottom telltales are set try adding a short dynema loop to the bottom of the sail so you raise it up the forestay a little. This may introduce more curve in the foot & flatten the head , thus balancing the leading edge. Not good, but an option.

It may be that it has been badly cut & should have been returned to the sail maker. If it has happened over time then some dacron sails tend to stretch & "tube" in the head causing the upper woolies to break before the lower ones. They sometimes tend to form a sort of semi circle rather than an aerofoil. If so you need to dig in your pocket & get a a new sail . I am on my 4Th in 13 years as blade sails seem to loose their shape quite quickly.
