To give you a idea, second hand we would be looking for something like this, tick a lot of boxes.

A few thoughts
I have just moved from a Hanse 370 to a 46 ft from another age and brand.
Cost of ownership is directly linked to size as in volume and to a degree displacement.
A 44 foot boat will cost about 20k per anum a 55 foot boat about 30k
Parking a 44 ft is a challenge anywhere in europe a 55ft is a major challenge , you need to think of finding somewhere months in advance.
As an example I want to loose my 46 in Suffolk in August and there is no where, fortunately I live in this area and will be helped out as I know a few marinas.

Med sailing is rubbish, there is no wind or 35 knots and it changes in minuets, the light weight big rig Hanse is not ideal. Marinas will be full, anchorages in season are imposable.

Caribbean good winds and anchorages plus marinas designed for big boats; but after you have been up and down the chain , not much else to do, at least the Med has culture when not sailing or fighting for somewhere to tie up.

Think your loft will be good at anchor in the Pacific, try reading blogs of people at anchor , the big open plan is at much a liability at anchor as sailing.

The 540 looks a good boat; as it is apparently UK registered and VAT paid; but do not forget a european tax paid boat out of europe is technically liable for VAT on re importing if she is away from europe for 3 years.
With all the europe and Brexit nonsense we may all have a challenge in a year or two. I would bid him half, it is completely overpriced for a 2007 boat.

Hello,

A bit late for an opinion maybe but I just joined the forum.

I bought a second hand 545 a few months ago and she is a terrific boat. I am a casual sailor living in Singapore and sailing in Phuket.

I would say the only drawback on the 545 is the lack of internal storage space if you fully utilize the dingy garage. I find that there is not enough space for spare parts, tools,.... if you do not want to always go either to the sail locker of the tender garage.

Otherwise terrific boat and great value for money.
