I find the battery and tank monitoring system on the 575 pretty primitive. I need to know how many amps are being drawn out of or going into the batteries, consumption of specific devices (ex: refrigeration or lights), and how many hours at current rate of draw,etc..
The new 575's have a MasterBus setup which means Mastervolt's monitor will work, but there are also Phillippi and SIMarine units available which do a lot. What do people have and any considerations I need to think about before a decision? Have it narrowed down, but as always appreciate input https://www.simarine.net/ *** SIMarine monitor https://www.bruceschwab.com/monitoring-control/ *** Phillippi PSM monitor Edited by Black Diamond - 19 September 2017 at 19:57 |

Rick,
I have the Philippi System for tank and battery Monitor, I have also replaced all the crappy Hanse sensors with Philippi sensory. Today I would certainly go for the Philippi bus System.

Can you explain how the Phillipi tank monitors went in?
I'm told the use ultrasonics to sense the tank., not floats |

Rick, I am using the ultrasonic only for the blackwater and the grey water tank. Diesel and Freshwater tank are magnetic Floating sensor. Both were drop in interchangeable with the crappy Hanse sensor and I used the existing wiring.
Will post Pictures when I return home Monday

Hi Rick, here is my setup with the monitors. I just doubled the Würth panel by a custom made one ordered on the internet by a company in Berlin ( they make a simple CAD program available ). |

And here is the water tank sensor, I used two wires of the existing cable and connected to the Philippi monitor

Here is the fuel tank sensor, it is drop in interchangeable into the existing hole, again the existing cable to the Würth panel was used:

Outstanding.. thanks... I like the fact that the sensors are (largely) interchangeable... Let me digest this a bit. The SIMARINE monitor is pretty nice and has some granularity that the Phillippi didn't seem to.

Hi there
Last year when I replaced the house batteries, the only way that Victron would warranty the new ones, was with a batt monitor. Its pretty neat and easy to use. As for the tank issue, I have installed the Volvo Tripcomputer software, so at least i have an accurate fuel flow and total, but to make that work, i need a Fuel Level in NMEA2000 format. I have a unit from Navico, that will digitize the signal. Also will have a go at calibrating the gauges. Will keep u posted. Edited by avi8tor - 05 February 2018 at 14:52 |
