A couple of queries.
1st and foremost has anyone got any simple method of knowing what speed you're actually doing through the water, so you can then calibrate the log to show the correct speed.

2nd I can calibrate for speed all the B&G multi display instruments in the cock pit at one input location but the readings on the B&G zeus chartplotter need to be separately calibrated and vice versa. I would have expected that they'd all be calibrated at the same time, from any single input position. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

Hi
1. The easiest way of is to set a heading with a constant boat speed. Read speed over ground from the gps. Turn the boat 180 degrees, with same boat speed. Read speed over ground again. Correct boat speed should be the mean value from the two readings.

2. Have the same problem with my Zeus. It seems that the plotter reads the raw value from the sensors and not the calibrated value from the Triton instruments. This affects the sailings functions in the Zeus as well. The apparent wind angle is not the same in the Zeus and in the Triton. Is there a separate calibration for the Zeus?

Thanks Mijo
1 Thats a brilliant idea. Thanks

2 Yes you can get into the menu on the Zeus to calibrate the boat speed. So I've had to have a member of crew, keep calling out the boat speed from the re calibrated multi display instruments, whilst I adjust the speed reading on the chart plotter to match.

Surely there must be a way for the chart plotter and instruments to automatically show the same. Anyone?

Mijo

Thanks for that tip and I re calibrated - we were previously showing 1.75 knots too slow!

We calibrated the deck instruments and then separately the Zeus chart plotter. To calibrate the chart plotter you go into the menu - network, source, speed, calibrate.

Hope this helps
Andrew
