The deck-hull joint sealant is cracking and looks ugly. Understand it is not structural, except perhaps around the shroud base, where it seems to allow some water in resulting in rust streams. Want to replace this, but with what?

I am aware that this is a known problem on some Hanses, related to some faulty sealant batches some years ago. Many were replaced under warranty, but ours was not, and we now want to solve the problem.

It needs UV resistant sealant, preferably in WHITE.

Problem is that Sika no longer produces its wonderful 295 UV, other than in BLACK, which would be an interesting contrast color, but not all that keen on that look.

Most other UV resistant sealants on the market are silicone based, and somehow that makes me uneasy. There seem to be some interesting products available in the U.S, i.e Life-Calc, but haven't seen any in Europe.

Anyone with a solution for a WHITE UV resistant urethane based sealant? Will the ordinary Sika 291 hold, or will it quickly fade and crack under sunlight?

Or is it OK to use a silicone based sealant which are widely available in home appliance stores. And does anyone have experience with exposed sea/sun sustainability of a silicone sealant?

I am interested in this as I have to remove and refit my anchor / bow fitting and it has lots of white sealant around the edges.
I will be at the Greifswald yard when I do this at the end of the month so I will probably get an answer from W&R then.
I have also used Sikaflex 295 UV (white) before and I'm surprised to hear this is no longer being sold.

I recently bought SIKA 295UV in White from SVB and the chanderlies here in KOS have it as well. So maybe Sika has stopped making 295UV but it still seems available. I would also be interested in a replacement sealant which performs better than 295 if anyone know of one. Ours needs replacing about 3 years after the first replacement.

I made myself a plastic tool and scraped the old sealant away. Then I used a very good sealant from Tec7. The result looks really good.

I have also repalced the sealant.
I also used the sika , only 291i black.
I also used the priimer so it has attached better.
Also it is not getting ugly like the color white will.
