I'm considering the Flexofold 3 blade 16x11 folding prop on my 320. Has anyone experience (good or bad) with this prop on the 320? Mine has the 3ym20 motor with the SD20 saildrive.

I have the 16 x 12 2 blade on my 320. Better forward than the original fixed 2 blade and working very well backwards. On such small boat/motor I believe it might not be so much to gain installing a 3 blade.

I have a Flex-O-Fold 2 blade 16 X 12 (? not sure) L on my Hanse 355.
2 blades prop are surely efficient enough for a H320

Thx for your replys. This surely does give new insights. Dealer says I have to go for the 3 blade because the 2 blade 'wouldn't perform backwards'. If I hear you guys, it does and both of you say a 3 blade isn't necesarry. Thx! |

I have the new design 2-blade Flexofold 16 x 12 with the large hub and big anode on our 320. Same as the new composite hub design, but then in all-bronze. Should have bought one years ago. Ample power ahead and very silent, no noise when engaging forward and reverse. No feeling this is a folding prop at all. In reverse you may need to increase the motor speed a bit more than you are used to with a fixed prop, but it is for sure powerful enough. The "singing" noise of the fixed prop we experienced is finally gone. Believe the 3-blade is overkill and is besides quite a bit more expensive (and is maybe why the dealer recommends it...). Though the biggest smile you will have on your face is when sailing with the folding prop….. Up to 0.3 - 0.4 knots better performance up-wind, no vibrations anymore on the rudder, what a relieve!

Hi,on my 315 2006 I've Yanmar 30 with FoF 3 blades from the yard: it works very well.
I suggest interesting test by Yacht Monthly May be 3blades is too heavy - also if more equilibrate - and may be 2blades do well the same job. Someone tell about some problem of opening in reverse (2blades). Alessandro

Well, this gives something to think about. Three happy 2 blade owners with no complaints about moving backwards or stopping with their 2 blade. I surely will check with the dealer why they think I should mount a 3 blade. Thx guys! |

My 320 came with a 3 blade flexofold. Excellent performance forward and reverse. Very smooth transition and good 'bite' in the water straight away.
Absolutely no problems and really simple maintenance. Unfortunately I can comment on the performance of the 2 blade but I cant see that there would be a lot of difference. The 3 blade may be a bit of overkill but if there is a considerable price differential then I suspect id go for the 2 blade given the comments above.

With four positive reviews of the 2 blade version, I'm gonna ask for an offer for the 2 blade version. The 3 blade version is around 2k euro, my guess is that the 2 blade version is a lot cheaper. Thx for the responses. (dealers says that the stopping power of the 2-blade version is bad, however, if that was the case, you guys would have complaints about this. You don't so I guess he is mistaken).

Talked with the dealer. Dealer is argumenting that with the 2-blade the optimal speed of the Hanse can't be reached. Is that true? With the fixed prop I'm doing around 7.2 to 7.3 knots. What do you guys doing with the 2-blade Flex-o-Fold? |
