Hi everybody,
has anybody the inbuild aircondition of Hanse? My experience is that I have to remove the air in the seawater filter everytime when I start the aircondition. Otherwise it will not work due to a lack of cooling. I have to open 2 of the 4 screws of the transparent lid of the filter. Everytime I have to remove some seawater from the bilge. Do you have an idea how to improve that? I thought of replacing the lid which is made of glass with one of plastic and made a hole in the middle with a small valve. Opening the valve would remove the air of the system. Any hints or ideas from you? Greetings from Germany ( in 2 weeks Croatia) Axel |

Axel,
On our air cond cooling pump there is a bleeding valve which is on the upper section of the actual pump. When sailing the system will often loose water and air will be in the pre filter which is down stream from the pump. By opening the bleed valve the air can escape and the pre filter is filled with sea water and the pump with then run correctly. If your pump does not have a bleed valve fitted it probably has a plug in place instead which can be loosened with a spanner to bleed the air out. We put a plastic container under the bleed valve which catches any water that comes through during the bleeding process.

Hi, we had the same problem, the solution depends on whether you want or are able to run the aircon when sailing. if not just close the stop cock below the filter and then the water cannot drain out when the boat heels over. We haven't had to bleed it since then, but you do have to remember to open the stop cock when you want to turn the aircon back on.
All the best Paul

I agree - we have a little sign that reminds me to close the AC seacock before sailing, and open it back up at port before the AC is turned back on. ALSO: our AC unit was installed about 2 years ago and the condensate drained into the bilge, which was not ideal. We just installed a "Mermaid Condensator" which sucks up the condensate and discharges it into the AC water outlet flow. I liked not needing to drill a new hole and the system works very well.

I close the sea cock during sailing. But even then there is a small amount of air in the opening of the sea cock which flows into the filter after opening it and stops the pump to work properly. I will have a look at the seawaterpump if there is a bleeding valve.
The original Hanse aircondition has a separate pump to take the condense water to a sea cock at the side of the hull. Axel |

I have found a solution: A small seavalve in the lid of the filter. It works pretty good.

I also make sure he seacocks are closed when not in use. Yes it is a pain when empty to get the air out. I also sited the water pump lower down as I constantly got air locks in the pump head,
