The led display on my panel has just given up. Does anyone know if it can be replaced without a whole new panel?
I’ve looked on the Hanse’s Boatoon site but can’t even see the panel. Nigel Edited by charentebob - 17 July 2018 at 07:55 |

After a lightning strike in 2012 I had my Calira panel repaired at the factory. This type of panel is no longer manufactured.

Wayne, you are forgetting that the boat should be replaced entirely!

Nigel,
if it is only the LED display, any instrument/electronics repair shop can replace it. Most likely they will use the same model as a replacement. Unfortunately Calira went bellyup and was bought by Truma, specialist for gas heater systems in camping cars. They stopped making the nautic line. Good Luck Frank

Thanks Frank I’ll pursue that line & see if I can find someone to replace the display. I’m hoping it’s possible to remove the display as disconnecting the whole panel would be a nightmare.

Nigel, disconnecting the panel is not rocket science. I had to do it with my Würth panel
You just have to follow a very disciplined procedure after disconnecting all batteries: a) photographing every detail of the panel b) marking all cables with tape and a color point c) color coding all connection points accordingly Is there a visible marking on the LED display? Rgds Frank

I had a WURTH panel go bad on our new boat. Its supposed to be fused to a fare-thee-well, but it somehow went bad when they were replacing the batteries over the winter. Disconcerting. That said, the replacement is pretty easy (its a $700 panel on our boat, but it was under warranty) if (as was said) you are disciplined about what wire went in what port on the board. The only thing we found was that the tank monitoring connections had changed. Hanse had adapters for the tank monitor cables and it was a simple matter of connecting those between the panel and the cable. FWIW |

I have good news for anyone who has had the LCD display on their switch panel fail.
I eventually sourced a German company who have supplied me with a new display screen/circuit board. It is identical to the failed unit and should be a simple installation. The company is called CaBoTron Elektronic OHG, Lerchenfeldstrasse8, D-87600, Kaufbeuren, Germany. Tel: +49 8341 9764-0 Email: beuro@cabotron.de The part number details are: Displaymodul CP20 Kraftst. B3 Ersatazeil The cost with tracked/signed for shipping was 179.69€ I’ll post again when installed to confirm that it works! Nigel |
