Does anybody know where on the 470 the galvanic isolator is sitting? My electrician didn't find it to solve the waterheater problems.

On my 385 it is in the port storage box just opposite where the 230 V shore power connector sits, it is pretty much hidden in the box, one has to dive with your head into the box and then look to stern.

It has 2 green-yellow cables going out, one to shore power, the other one to the boat circuit.

Best.

You might be right. On the first 470s (mine is from 2007 #120) they forgot it, although I'm just about sure having read about it in the tech specs. Unhappy We install now one and all the earthing cables will be checked.

Dar Chris

When was your 470 launched respectively what is your slot-nummer (mine is #120/2007). Hanse after sales servie does not remember when they started  installing the isolator. Be aware that this item is decisive to prevent corrosion/stray current/electrolytical processes depending on the correct grounding of the shore power connection/marina infrastructure.

When we were stationed in Corfu-Gouvia marina in 2014 our waterheater #3 only held one year (!). My shipyard specialist looking after different private boats and his own charter fleet told me about similiar issues in Gouvia marina. So in some marinas you might be lucky in others it can be disaster. In any case: if you want to be on the safe side don't heat your boiler electrically.

Thanks for passing this on. My Hanse 470e (SCIROCCO) is a 2010. I'm not sure about the slotting number? She does have a galvanic isolator.

The Isotherm advice is to unplug the calorifier if you are not using it.  On my yacht (341) there is a 3 pin plug and socket near the calorifier.

That's a very good advice! Why not using the electrical heating and unplug the socket?? If the grounding of the yacht is ok, I don't see any reason why to renounce this function. Or does it mean that Isoterm does not even trust their own products? We have now mounted 2 anodes. (s. thread about waterheater)
