We have an electric toilet (JABSCO) in our 445 Hanse (2014) and from the day we bought the yacht there is a problem of water returning the non-return valve back to the toilet. We heard that this problem occurred in another Hanse yacht (2015). Of course, it brings an un pleasant smell and also after not being used during winter is causes problems to the electric pump. Has anyone bumped into a similar thing and found a solution?

Have you replaced the joker valves? I have the same boat and heads. SMe problem started last season. New joker valves installed over winter appear to have fixed it. Water system has just been recommissioned after winter layup so still early days.

Matt is almost certainly right, replace the joker valves. Also, when you leave the boat, flush the toilets two or three times. This will fill the pipe with "fresh" water and help prevent salts from depositing on these fragile, but critical, components.

That's the one. We change them every year as a matter of routine maintenance on our 445. Also they seem to work much better when it's hot outside; even new ones work bad when it's cold, around 10C.
