Hi to all seasoned Hanse sailors,

I got stuck in a bit of a situation and would really need som help and guidance.
Here goes:
A dear friend bought a Hanse 345 last year and I was supposed to help him sail the boat next weekend, from south of Sweden to Stockholm.
Funny thing, my friend got stuck and can't make it but the boat needs to be removed from the winter dock anyway and I am supposed to do it with another friend who's never sailed a Hanse before either.
To cut a long story short, here are my questions:

- we gotta install the sail, are there any manuals available online?
- What is the starting sequence for the Yanmar diesel engine? Any tips about user
manuals or similar documents to help out understand what's what?

I wil have no problem sailing the boat as I sailed quite a lot on mine but I wouldn't want to damage anything by doing the worng things.
Gotta mention that my friend himself has no idea about sailing or technical details of the boat so hard to get help from him. Also , he's got the owners manual from Hanse but no idea where he put it and he's working overseas for the next two weeks.
Would appreciate any help to get the boat started safely and maybe tips on putting up the sails.
Cheers,
Alex

Hi Alex,

unfortunately there are no detailed manuals for the H 345. Hanse supplies a safety manual which is an endless list of thing every sailor should know anyway.

The mainsail rigging is simply straightforward, same for the selftacker.  Make sure you do not fill the Diesel tank more than 90%.

Happy Sailing

Hi Fendant, appreciate the reply, thank you.

I've been so far sailing on my old Maxi 77 which is not even remotely as advanced as the Hanse hence my questions.
I have tried to find documents and information online for the past week but there is really not much.
My friend should have an owners manual on the boat but it is then 400 km away, driving there to just see there's nothing onboard will not be fun.
Thank you for your advice, I'll just have to do my best.
Cheers

As Frank has said, the owners manual may not provide much assistance for the specific items you have mentioned. It does have useful content, but perhaps more maintenance related than sailing.

I have just launched my 385 after winter ashore (mast stripped and stored) at Greifswald. Do you have to reassemble the mast? If so let me know and I can send you my own list of reminders for the Selden rig.
Rigging the sails should be reasonably standard but maybe you will be lucky and have another Hanse in your winter marina that you can look over to check how it should look.
I have a Volvo and the start sequence is "on/off" button to supply electric power and start engine compartment fan; wait 30 seconds for glow plug heat indicated by two beeps; press "start" for a second or so until engine fires. To stop press "stop" until engine stops and revs show zero. Press "on/off" to shut electric power. Fan continues to run for 30 seconds after this.

Here is a link so you can download the Hanse 345 brochure, so you can see some pictures of how the sails and sheets are set up.  If it is anything like the normal Hanse manual, then actually the brochure will be more useful.
