I have just replaced my Garmin chart plotter with a Vulcan 9 MFD. This included dropping a NMEA2000/Simnet cable down into the lazarette and installing a 7 joiner instead of the 3 joiner as it was full.

Booted up the Vulcan, configured it and it was able to communicate with all the Simnet devices, including autopilot. Once it was connected to the internet it asked if I wanted to update the firmware for the autopilot. Which I accepted. It downloaded the firmware but appeared to be only part way through when it exited the update. Now the AP24 won’t turn on and there is a ‘no autopilot’ warning.

I’ve checked the fuse in the AC12 which is fine and the green LED is illuminated. Any ideas?

I wonder if you can force the update to complete by downloading the update file manually, copying onto an SD card and then requesting the install via the file menu on the Vulcan?

Okay, autopilot back up and running after John at The Vital Spark Clap did a hard reboot of the AC12 and updated the firmware directly to the unit. He advised NOT to update network devices from the MFD over wifi, as a drop in the wifi connection can mess-up the update, but to download the update onto an SD card and install that way.

I the Installation is not completed, you have to disassemble the Autopilot, bring to a Dealer and he can install the update completely....
That's the only Way. Same with the AC 12 if not completes the Installation!
best regards
