To Frank from Frank,
Hi there, I have an older 341, based in South Sweden. Also with 'Doyle' sails. I won't embarass Hanse by saying anything about them here. Interested to know what your Quantum sails cost and e-mail address / contact person to discuss this with. I have just taken delivery of a new gennaker but have not had the chance to use it yet. Will post a message here when I have tried it. It is 88 sq. m. flat cut so I have high hopes. Warm Cheers Cold Beers

Hi Frank, The Quantum Sails are specially made for your own Hanse and indeed therefore completly something different than the stock sails. That is no problem it is a fact that every brand deliveres their ships with stock sails. If you want a upgrade for better handling and better performance you have to invest in specially made sails. I am verry enthousiastic about Quantum. Their brand is almost the biggest one in the world. Also the Volvo Ocean will leave North and upgrade to Quantum.. (I believe). Mine experience is that the price is not the lowest but if you compare their design and quality that it is a perfect match! I sail with triradial sails (not kevlar!) so this is one class higher than the crosscut version. Therefore I get much better performance en less heel. I've you want to know more please see at www.quantumsails.com for more info or mail the Dutch dealer (english spoken!!) at nbol@quantumsails.com I am sure he will give you good advise. Frank |

REF GENNAKER Frank, Have now had a chance to use my Gennaker (made by Momentum Sails of Germany - www.momentumsails.com) and have been very pleased with the performance. I can get very close to the wind - although the manufacturer states 65 deg to 140 deg range I found that I get easily to 45deg. I will try to post some pics. Have also now tried using a borrowed pole on the self-tacker (which is a terrible sail) when sailing dead down-wind and get good down wind performance with that poled out. Now have to buy a pole!!! More expense. I will not invest in any more gear for the boat (that I can not take with me to my next boat - which will not be a Hanse). I will be trying to sell the 341 asap as I am very irritated with the total lack of response by Hanse Griefswald to my warranty claims. I may sail down there this summer and throw a brick through Michael Schmidt's window. (Only joking!) Happy Sailing
