Yes, it locks the hatch for the gas. You have to lift the bathing platform up a few centimeters to open and close. It is not a big issue, whe you j´know about it.

Thanks for all the good comments.
We went ahead and ordered our 320 with the bathing platform because it should make for a more pleasant charter vessel - ease of getting in and out of the dinghy (charterers are not allowed to come along side wharves in our charter area) and security for families with young children (the 320 is an ideal size for small families). We have also found there is an approved gas detector / gas shut-off valve unit readily available in Australia. We will have the valve installed on the gas cylinder (we may have to modify the enclosure to make room) and a switch by the sink in the galley. So the charterers will not have to remember to go and find the gas cylinder outside. Our 320 is due to arrive in Australia mid-July - not a long wait at all! |

Hi. We keep our 320 on a swing mooring and have found the platform to be a huge asset for getting on and off the dinghy especially when loading / offloading gear. It makes life far easier.

The bath platform was one of the reasons why I choose to buy a Hanse. I had a lot of problems with it (see other threads) but the functionality of it is great. It both closes the cockpit securely when it's not in use and gives you direct access to the water when you want it.
Johan PS. I removed the life jacket in Photoshop to make the picture look better... |

hello people...
My boat doesn't have a platform and I don't quite understand weather I like it or not...As I have a tiller instead of the wheel I don't need that extra space behind so I guess i need one...but can you actually use it unfolded while sailing (not anchored)...I think it will be slamming against the hull and eventually make a hole in it ... why do I need to keep it unfolded while sailing??? This was by far the most favourite place for my constantly seasick wife to sit (the low seat on transom was in most boats that we charted (Jeanneau, Dufour etc...) as it's very close to the water my wife definitely becomes less prone to the decease... Maybe I should install the permament platform??? Unfortunatly I haven't seen curved platforms so far (to sit straight while the yacht heels).... Any Ideas please... |

Hi,
We have the bathing platform on our 370, and are fairly pleased with it. Personally I find enough room to stand behind the wheel stearing (370), and have no problems with opening and closing the gas without lowering the platform. I just open it a little, letting it rest on the lower lifeline while holding it open with my elbow/upper arm. I can then open the hatch and turn the gas on or off. With a little practice this works fine.
I agree its a little heavy to lift it with the attached rope though, especially the first bit.
