For what it's worth.
I missed the possibility to ventilate the bathroom (aside from opening the window).
In the end I decided to get the hole saw out and put an extra ventilator in.
On the inside I made an extraction  fan (a 12v,  0.3Amp computer fan), works well.
big step to make a hole in your boat, but now that it is in, it looks like it's always been there.
I had already replaced the white plastic deck ventilators, as they had gotten ugly from UV damage.
Been looking for Stainless units,  couldn't find anything but the trusted 'mushroom' type.
They ventilate well and they are watertight (if you close them well).

It is quite good idea. I am struggling with the smell in the bathroom and this is something I will definitely consider.

No problem - as PB said though, just the one on the top of the saloon and the one in the v-berth. Can't leave the side windows open.

Hi,
I ordered a plastic sea-through cover from US that is suitable sized for those windows. It is possible to keep side windows open as long as the rain does not fly close to vertically. I have it in toillet vindiow that I keep now always open. In toilet it does not make much harm even if few drops come in sometimes.

I store "on the hard" for 5-6 months in a cold climate and use the drying crystals.  I pour about 1 inch of crystals into small plastic tubs (wide bottom preferred) and place 15-20 of them throughout my boat... the lower the better.  I open every storage area, closet, etc. and place a tub at the bottom. In the spring she's as fresh as a daisy. Each tub has 1-2 inches of accumulated water.  I've been doing this for 20 years and have never encountered a foul odor.
