At the moment DD is now moored on her swing mooring in Barmouth. Her main berth is in Douglas in the Isle of Man.
I have been over the years had problems with a blocked fuel filter / water separator.
It would happen at the most inopportune moments, in stormy conditions when a working engine was needed,
entering port, etc...

I had tried cleaning the fuel tank, cleaning the desiel, I would still suddenly get a slowing down
of the engine and eventually stopping it.
So I bought a duplex fuel system, as there was a sudden price drop in this item which was before was
just to expensive for me.
It is fitted, and is I think brilliant, just filled the two filters, ran the engine, no bleeding
of the system was required, then shut of one filter. I also cleaned the tank
and this time put in new fuel hoses, and found so much crap adhering to the
side of the pipes that I think I had found the problem.  Now if I get a
blocked filter, which I think will be unlikely, all I need to do is switch the
second filter on and switch the blocked filter off... When I then have time, I just
need to spin off the blocked filter, fill the new filter with fuel and spin
on... No need to bleed the system....
Since fitting DD has covered 30 miles and all looks well and seems to be working well.

Just to add to this post about the water seperator/fuel filter... In one of the photos you will see a small bulb pump. I have moved this as I found that this is not th best place for it... As it pressurises the suck side of the fuel system. I have moved it now to the fuel system between the new filter system and the lift pump. This then actually sucks th fuel through rather than pushes it.
It is now working fantastically well.
