Next modification - a bow sprit. I will try to make one in carbon / vinylester. How hard can it be to make a 3m long pole with approx external diameter 8cm and wall thickness 0.75cm??? No doubt I'll find out!

Having looked at the off-the-shelf models (Facnor / Selden) the problem is to have sufficient clearance under the Facnor furling drum and I don't believe the production ones will fit. (Not to mention the cost of anything exotic).

I am curious if anybody has made an assymetric that will be used with a sprit and if there is any extra sail area that you can gain - apart from cleaner air. Does anybody use a mast-head Gennaker?

I looked at the specification of J-122 which has similar dimensions to our and with their spirit / mast head assymetric have a max sail area of 155m2. The standard fractional Hanse gennaker is 120m2. That is a big difference.

Some more photos:

The anchor winch had to be repositioned. Old Delta anchor as spare with 8 m chain and line.

New hatch to reach underneath the winch.

Oversized backing plate to strenghten underneath. (sorry about the quality of the pictures)

This solution works fine. Although it had been better to move the winch even more forward to allow the chain to fall free. The best part is that it feels solid and that the anchor doesn't hit the hull when lowering/hoisting. Remaining work is to find a solution for securing the anchor (locking pin or similar).
