Simrad IS15 instuments have been working rather troublefree since spring 2006 and now may I face issue that others also might have faced before...

This weekend were the first sailing weekend and I observed that the depth display sometimes were working and sometimes not, it come and goes.
Has anyone experienced this before and how did you fix it?

When exploring new sailing areas the depth instrument is key so this can affect our choice of sailing water this summer, the archipelago along the Swedish westcoast has plenty of rocks that I don't want to hit with the keel:-)

Hi,

I don't know the difference between IS12 and IS15 but here are a solution on the same issue on the IS12 combi instrument:

Hej Håkan

thanks for the URL but I am afraid of that I have a different problem.

depth sensor - IS 15 Transceiver - roblink (network protocol) - IS 15 displays in the cockpit.

Observation

display shows depth value

starts to flash even though it is 10 meters depth

"--" no depth value displayed on the combi instrument there the log speed is working all the time.

Flash indicate that the depth sensor doesn't provide a signal to the tranceiver (or if the depth is over 150 metre, don't remember the exact depth value).

Another sail friend recognized the pattern and he resolve that by replacing the depth sensor.

I will be looking for a technical solution that is a step into a future replacement of IS15, maybe it would be possible to find a depth sensor that could be connected to my SIMNET connection on the Chartplotter.
Any other ideas?

Forgot to post the outcome of my trouble shooting some years ago.
For the record, the depth instrument did work again after replacing the sensor.

Had this on my IS20.
The depth showed '--' and then came back. Got worse and finally never got back.
New sensor fixed it.
The triducer is very expensive.
I regret that I did not buy separate units. One for speed and one for depth.
