Andreas, I assume that you soon will put loctite on the bults/screws to prevent this to happen again...?!
Cheers,

I didn`t open the pedestal. I gained the sufficient access by removing the plotter (witch on my boat is mounted in he upper part of the pedestal) and the instruments on both sides of the pedestal.

Hi Andreas,
Lucky you, as my plotter is in a separate box I would be in trouble in your situation! I wanted to open the pedestal to mount a table stand on it but found it impossible. So I put it on the side of the cockpit bench. Works fine but why don't they ever design these things as serviceable?

Skipper, yes indeed. When I`m home, safe and sound I hope, I`ll tear it all apart again and put som locktite on! Shouldn`t it have been some there in the first place???Confused

Mikki, a man`s gotta do what a man`s gotta do.Smile When you really needs access. you just make a big rektangular hole and after you finished the job, just move your plotter there!

You don't happen to know the type of pedestal we have?
I'm thinking oof replacing the upper part faor another instrument setup.

We have just gone through the same problem on 370 2007
After speaking toJeffa we ended up cutting access from both sides of the pedestal to remove the lid from the steering box
We fitted inserts from inspection covers to fill the holes as the hole cutter was that size (we only had the one size)
I have suggested to Jeffa that they alter the top cover by adding two jacking screws
