Hi, we have taken our mainsail off for the first time in 4.5 years to have it cleaned. We have a Selden mast with the optional ball bearing sliders which work very well.
We took the main off by unbolting the sail from the sliders which was fine, but I just wonder how you remove the sliders if you need to repair or replace them? There is a push in plate that would allow traditional plastic sliders to come out of the luff track, but this is too small for the ball bearing sliders.
Any thoughts would as always be very welcome
All the best

Paul, there is a small cap in the bottom of the track and the sliders will come out once you have removed that cap. BEWARE that unless you are very careful you will have tiny Teflon beads everywhere and then you have to order beads that went missing then you have to rebuild each slider !! Following which you have to reload the track!
My main comes off every summer to get it out of the heat however no sail cleaners here, it just gets a wash and an aircon room for four months. ! If anyone knows of a good product for cleaning elvstrom performance sails pls let me know.

Paul,

You have to remove the push plate completely from the mast, and then when you tilt the ball gliders you are able to get them out. I do it every fall.

Hi thanks for that, I will have a look this weekend.
Rod I would agree about trying to find something that cleans FCL sails, despite being professionally cleaned they are only marginally better, I certainly won't be paying for that again.
