How's this for optimism:
Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller, owner of the giant Mærsk Line shipping company, at 96 years of age, has taken delivery of a new sail boat. An 82 foot SWAN costing D.Kr. 60 million. (€8m., $11.5m., £7m.) http://pleasure.dk/bilen/artikel/161585/ |

A relation of mine - a retired policeman - was 85 years old when he spent the last of his savings on a brand new volvo. This was his first ever new car. When his daughter said " Dad why bother? you may be dead next week" he replied " So !- then I have had a new car for a week !!!"
Same philosophy really

Mr. Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller died this week. 98 years old.
So he enjoyed his new yacht for nearly three years, Hope your relative is still enjoying his Volvo. Cheers Franko |

No died at 101
Apparently there was some mistake in the data at the insurance co & licence centre & they did not notice his age until 99, so they never queried it & he just carried on driving.
He lived alongside a very busy road & used the car several times a week with no accidents or bother
Looked after himself even at 100 years

Mr. Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller had Swan 60 and X-73 from Danish X-Yachts previously. In fact I believe he had 2 of the X-73. One in Denmark and one in the Mediterranean. RIP

I actually raced against him in Åland (Aaland) when he was driving the boat from the shipyard back home. Wearrived quite late and we were several boats spotting each other, lowering our sails and starting our engines in order to get one of the last free places by the jetties. Suddenly we see this huge mast standing up behind one of the islands and was astonned of the mast size, even more so when we saw the boat! So after a while we were driving side by side and do I need to tell that we looked like a dingy besides his boat! Who won the race then? We did, he did not fit in the jetty :)
Afterwards I read, did not know who the owner wwas at that time, an interview with him in a newspaper and they asked him why he bought such hughe boat in his age since he could die next day. He replied; Then I had fun at least for one day more :)
