Hi All !

I am very close to buy a new HANSE 320. The new reduced price makes my decision easier !

As far as I know last year;s price for the same boat was 95.000 Euros (including VAT) and today's price is less 20'000 Euros. Is there any special reason for that ?

I was thinikig to buy a First 31.7 but now the difference is quite big.

I am interested to weekend cruises mainly but also to participate to some regattas (not an experienced sailor).

I will be greatfull for your input.

Brgds

Gabriel

The reason for the price reduction I guess must be the financial crises and the dramatic loss of sale, but also ofcourse Bavaria 32... As you may know the Smartline does not have Sandwich hull so there has been done things to reduse cost... Its a nice boat...

We were not looking for a new ship at all (a second hand) but having seen this offer the decision was made rather quickly. A fine, good looking and complete ship for a very nice price. Indeed, crisis and competition now are good for buyers. Ours will be delivered april 2010.

I Gabriel,

I think that other reason to the lower price is that the shiping of the boat is not by road on a truck, but by sea.

My understanding is that neither the 320 nor the 350 now have sandwich hulls?

As to Gaby's comment about price / sales the picture in the UK is that the market for both new and second-hand boats seems to have been good lately. Basically money held in a bank is making nothing at all in interest, and nobody trusts "our" banks or bankers anymore, so anyone who has any money is spending it! (That is also what the yacht brokers are saying - autumn 2008 was terrible but autumn 2009 was good for this very reason).

And also the euro is very strong so I guess Hanse has to juggle their overall prices a bit if the non-euro countries are to buy anything. I believe there has been a substantial UK price rise precisely because of the sharp fall of the pound against the euro, but fortunately I ordered my 350 before that rise!   Perhaps when the exchange rate hits unity the UK will finally ask to join in...

I was told the lowered price (smartline) was due to hanse didnt want to send their staff on leave when the crisis was hitting, as such they planned manufactoring of 100 boats, all with the same spec.

My rough analysis concluded the offer was approx 25k better than the new bavaria. better boat as well so I took the hanseLOL
