Hi.

I've ordered a new spray hood for my 2004 Hanse 312, but Im a bit confused on what height to make the new spray-hood.

The old one measures 168cm from deck/floor to highest point, and that sometimes obstructs the boom, and most certainly my forward vision, so I'm definitely going to lower it a bit, but I am uncertain how much to lower it.

I figure at least 5 Cm, or preferably even 10 cm. I'm considering even more, but at a certain stage there is going to be a bit of head bending to enter below.
Also there is the matter of appearance.

What is a good height for the sprayhood roof om a 312 to maintain vision and sail/boom , without getting to low _

Do you know the height on yours , and are you satisfied with it ?

I hope to have the sprayhood tailor to come aboard on Wednesday to make the template, so im in a decision hurry hereSleepy

Any suggestions or advice would help.

Hi, and sorry for the delay.

I have just measutred our sprayhood and it is 5'0" (152  cm) from the cockpit sole.   I can see above it when we are moving,  and it does not normally interfere with the boom.   I do have to duck my head when going below,  but I am 6'0" (183cm)!
I do normally drop it when on the move for visibilty,  but that's just a personal thing.

I already had to make the decision, so I went for 158cm, which is 10cm down from before.
Same hight front and aft (was rising backwards before).

Nice to know that that wont be to low then, as yours is even lower, thanks Tongue

I'm sailing mostly west coast Norway, so not to many to days where its comfortable sailing with the hood down during the year in this parts.

Hello
Where did you order it?

To the "official" Hanse sprayhood producer ?

I'm also looking for one and it seems to be difficult as this does not seems to be standard

thanks

Camille

I have ordered my sprayhood from the options list. It was supplied by Hanse's supplier in Greifswald.
I was really disappointed. making it fit, needed 2 corrective steps by the dealer. The fabric quality is definitely the lower end.
I will replace it next year with an new one made out of top quality Sunbrella(R) fabric. The old one will serve as the template for my local supplier ( Nauti Sattler ).

Hello

Do not know where you are but I found a nice and cheap solution in Zeeland

The guy dismounted the sprayhood
Rebuild it and changed some panels changed all windows

Less than 200

Not new, but good for a few years now

I'm in Norway,, so opposite side of the world almost Tongue

The Spray hood is made and fitted this Summer, together with the new Lazy bag.
Lowered by approx. 10 cm and that turned out to be perfect for my height.

Set me back approx.. 30 000,- NOK (Maybe around 3000 EUR ?) but that was also including some sail fixing and an extra reef in the main.

Pleased with the work and the price Smile
