@Ed - thanks, and yes, it was indeed an expensive operation.

@plattgatt - Ja dunkelgrau ist die richtige Farbe meiner meinung nach, aber Whisher grau ist auch nicht slecht (trotzdem es ist immer gut zu tun, wie die Frau sagt LOL)

Ouups, it has been a while since I have written anything in GermanLOL

Ole,
To keep your paint job looking its' best for the longest time you should apply Awlcare (product # 73240). This is a paint "conditioner" made by Awlgrip for their paint products. It is easy to apply and polish off and a 473ml (one US pint) bottle should be enough to do your hull twice. I would apply it before the boat goes in the water and then once  or twice per year.

Your boat looks great!

The Awlgrip paint job itself will cost me about 55.000 SEK (or the equivalent of 8.600 USD / 6.5000 EUR).

On top of that I will also have bottom treated with another three layers of epoxy (just in case) and new anti-fouling of course + a complete set of new thru-hulls of composite (TruDesign) + new membrane on the Yanmar SD20 drive..........and......and....and

In a few weeks I will be completely brokeCryLOL

Ole,

I just wanted to qualify my previous comments above..... to be fair to Sydmarin. (AND since they are highly recommendable should any of you out there consider getting your boats painted Wink)

The price for the paint job itself was ex VAT! + I will have to stress that the quote was for my boat specifically. The hull of Amani was in perfect condition and uncontaminated with any silicone residue. So preparations could be minimized. In addition you also have to consider that I had a number of other things made as well including a total makeover of the bottom (expoy, antifouling etc.) + Trudesign thruhulls! So you cannot necessarily take my calculations as an indicator.

BTW - Amani was finally launched today. All Trudesign fiitings mounted and Upper white stripe and Hanse logo added. Like new againBig smile

Kirkelund

Here are a couple of pictures taken after the launch today. I noticed that the colour seems slightly lighter than the old gel coat, but it depends on the sunlight and viewing angle and maybe the fact that the paint is new. The old and the new colours are, in fact, very similar. (Notice that the custom made name "Amani" has also been restored).

From the other side - still looking goodBig smile

NB: All tanks are full (in case anyone of you remember a very high floating Amani from pictures of the previous launches)

"Gorgeous" is the first word that springs to mind!

IF we are going to meet up it will have to be in the dark. Emilia cannot compare to Amani anymore.

It would be interesting if you could post a picture of "before and after" to see the difference. Could you do that? (And make sure not to use the picture I manipulated to make Amani pink.)

On requestWink Here are a few before and after pictures for comparison.

In Rċċ marina, Sweden, just before we left Amani there for the winter. (The need for a spray is obvious).

This picture was taken just before the trip to Rċċ at Amani's usual mooring place.

This picture was taken today on the exact same spot and under similar light conditionsBig smile

Detail: Amani in Limhamn - BEFORE!

This picture was taken yesterday in Limhamn on the exact same spot and similar light conditionS

Well, I hope that was enough for comparisonLOLLOL

Impressive Kirkelund! Your "new" boat looks really great!

This Easter weekend I met a guy who had a new painted Hanse 370 hull. It was a very dark blue hull and it looks phantastic. So I asked him if this is painted new. He told me yes, not brushed but rolled. The result was absolutely perfect. He told me it was done by a netherlands service company for 3.500 €. This pricing lowers the barricade to think about doing the same if it is time.

What a big difference - your boat looks new!

I notice too that you seem to have done the seal between the toe rail and the hull again as well. On our boat, this I starting to look like it needs to be re-done

Did you use Sikaflex 291 for that job?
