My Hanse 375 has a single topside porthole midships.  It has a metal frame, some kind of alloy (or aluminium?).  I have noticed that the frame is corroding (white powder), with paint peeling off.

Has anyone experienced this.  Should I be concerned?

Hi Greig

These are Lewmar ports, Lewmar had issues with powder coat for some time, my 2010 400 had powder coat come off all of the flush hatch frames.

I would suggest you contact your local Lewmar agent or your Hanse agent and put pressure on Lewmar. The powder coat finish should not come away like this.

Changing these ports out is not as daunting as it looks they are one piece bonded to the hull, as they are below waterline when hard on the wind i would get professional to change them out, correct product to use to bed the new ones is Dow Corning 797.

I've got the same problem.
On several windows.
Hanse and Lewmar are not in the mood for replacement.
I would recomment not to use Lewmar anymore.
The only way is to clean all the windows from the topping and polish the aluminium.
Anyone solutions how to do this?

I purchased replacement parts, and have them in storage.  If/when the corrosion issue becomes untenable, I will replace the frames. But I am still thinking they will just corrode again, so looking for some kind of treatment to stop the corrosion.
