Hello :)
I live France and I rent a HANSE 400 E in Sete (mediterranean coast) with the goal do sail to the Balearics in august with my family.
The owner who did only regata, don't want not to install a bimini or something like this on his boat.
The sun is shining very hard is spain and I have decided to buy a low cost bimini to protect childs and adults.
It would be very kind if some Hanse 400 E (built in 2007) owner gives me the measurements of the cockpit, spécialy A, B and C as shown in the attached pdf file.
I will put the bimini on the B sides of the cockpit.

Many thanks

Best regards

The only thing you'll have difficulty determining is the height of the boom - this will be individual boat dependent, determined mostly by mainsail characteristics and how hard the main sheet is on. From the diagram, it appears the boat has a cockpit traveler and that is where you want to measure dimension F from, is that correct?

I'm hoping to be at my boat on Thursday evening and will try to remember to measure this for you.

Hi Steve

Many thanks for your reply.

This boat has a standard mainsail.

I have'nt clearly writting on the pdf file.

There is not any F dimension . But the C dimension from the cockpit floor to under the boom.

I need especially the A dimension (width of the cockpit) the B dimension (where the winches are mounted) and the C dimension of your boat from the cockpit floor to under the boom.

I can buy on a french website a bimini with a maximum width of 220 cm and a height of 115 cm.

It will be fixed on both sides of the dimension B of the cockpit.

The dimension C '  must not be greater than 115 cm. Otherwise the boom will touch the top of the bimini.

Its not easy to explain with my bad english

Best regards

Jean-Michel

More comments
Yes the boat has a cockpit traveler in front of the rudder.
I want to measure dimension A (not F ) at the opposite side of the rudder.

Thanks a lot :)

Here you go.... I made a few more measurements because the cockpit is not made up of vertical and horizontal surfaces, they are at angles and those angles change depending on how forward or aft you are in the cockpit.

Distance A @ the forward winch location is about 195cm, for reference forward winch center to winch center is about 252cm

Distance B midway between the forward and aft winch locations is about 37 cm. For reference this reduces to 35 cm at the aft winch location and increases to 39cm at the forward winch location.

The seats are 40cm above the cockpit floor and the top of the coaming is 73cm above the cockpit floor at the traveler location.

The traveler is 163cm from the companion way.

Lastly, the boom is about 175-177 cm above the cockpit floor at the traveler location when the boom is level (I didn't measure this distance with the mainsail raised as I have a custom mainsail not the Hanse standard).

I hope all that helps. If I've missed something I should be down at the boat again over the weekend.

Cheers
Steve
