Having just joined the forum I thought I'd see about drumming up some interest in the Portsmouth Sailing Club's Parhelion Spring and Autumn Series races.  These are run outside Portsmouth Harbour on 5 or 6 consecutive Saturdays from late March to the end of April, and from late September through to end of October, starting around 10:15 with a couple of 1-2 hour races and finishing around 2pm.  They are generally very friendly with the more serious racers doing the IRC class and the rest of us doing Club class, followed by a beer and a chat back at the club, plus they run a NHC calculation in parallel.  You don't need to be a PSC member to race, or enter all of the races.  I've raced with them for years and for the last 5 on Hobo, with a generous handicap meaning that we won a couple of series.  Usually there are 6-10 boats per class in the 27ft-38ft range but I've seen anything from a Foxhound to an 80ft boat with a bunch of kids on it, and even the odd dayboat.  Would be great to see any other Hanse sailors join in the fun.  Details can be found here under racing: http://www.portsmouthsc.co.uk/" rel="nofollow - http://www.portsmouthsc.co.uk/

Just a reminder to anyone based in the Solent, particularly around Gosport, that the PSC Parhelion Spring Series starts on Saturday for the next 5 weekends (excluding Easter weekend).  Lots of fun to be had and some beers at the end!  Enter on the day.

Also the Portsmouth Regatta is on June 9th and 10th.  Last year involved sunbathing and swimming in Stokes Bay for an hour or 2 before we got any wind and boy was it hot!  Then good food and company in the Royal Albert and Royal Naval Club on Saturday evening with free beer from one of the sponsors.  We got 3rd in class.  Sign up now! https://www.portsmouthregatta.org/" rel="nofollow - https://www.portsmouthregatta.org/
