Dear Hanse 385 of 415 owners,

Our warranty of two years ends in May. Can you give us some hints what we should check. I got already informations like to check the emergency tiller whether it fits really! Or the silicone between deck and hull. If you have more ideas we would be grateful. End of march we will travel to our boat after the long winter break.

1) The seal between the fuel take-off pipes and the polyethelene tank. The tank is of poor quality & in our case the surface of the tank where it fits to the circular plate with the fuel pipes was badly distorted & the gasket did not privide a seal. Result half a day cleaning the bilges of 40/50 litres of fuel. We had it repaired by a specialist in Corfu who makes polyethelene tanks. He welded a piece of 10mm material to the tank and cut a new hole and made a new gasket of a cork & rubber material. No trouble since.
2) Steering cables. Some owners have had failures after a short period. One of mine broke after 4 years. I posted Jefa diagrams on the manuals section of the Forum. Included their annual maintenance advice. Worth following.
3) Mast step. The step is made of alloy and the studs for block connection are stainless steel. The studs fit through holes with the nuts on the underside held in a blind slot. If the stud is fully tightened then the hole for the block shackle is not in the right place for correct alignment. If backed-off to allow alignment the stud is loose and it can "work" making the hole elongated. Several of our stud threads were bent. The only real solution is to have a stainless plate made. This is bolted to the step & the blocks are attached to that. This is not exactly a warranty modification but a damaged mast step is. See photos.
4) Halyard bocks. Many owners report failures. I've had several distort of sheaves split. If any of yours are not in good condition I'd ask for the value of them & put it towards buying better quality.

Hope these comments are of help.

Dear Ida,

the squeaking of the floor can be finished by mounting a piece of wood between floor and hüll.
The GPS antenna is really a nuissance. Our Wind vane is quite reliable.
Our Problems during warranty were
Sounder of echolot
Filter of air condition had no connection to anode
autopilot was not properly fixed
Some electrical connections to the Würth panel were not working

Where is your boat? Ostsee?

Greetings Axel

I know HANSE and I am personnaly interested in the new 348... and by the Sun Odyssey 349.
HANSE has seriously increased its prices.  Not normal !
.
But to read this Forum, I Wonder how is it possible to find so many problems, big problems on
their units ?  Not to mention an often deplorable after-sales service.
The return of BAVARIA owners is much better, not forgetting more normal rates.
.
How to explain this from HANSE ?

Have a good Day.
