Hi

I had the same problem on High Time - I think it is quite common on recent boat.

Firstly you could argue with your dealer that this is not acceptable and, if they are a good outfit, they will fix the problem.

If you want to do it yourself you could try what I did in the forepeak on High Time. I had to take up the floorboards to mop up when part of the flap valve on the log broke off, sending a 20cm jet of water everywhere for about 5 seconds before I could get the log back in.

Take each board out into the cockpit and rub down the edges carefully with medium sandpaper all round. Then take a simple white candle and apply a liberal covering of candle wax along each edge. When the boards are re-laid silence should prevail.

The main saloon floorboards on High Time are still on the list for the dealer to fix!

Good luck

Yes.

There are a couple of jobs, plus the saloon floorboards, scheduled for early October.

A carefully applied squirt of Harken 'SailKote' dry lubricant along the squeaky board edges worked for me.  It's lasted a season so far.

Same problem in my new Hanse 345 "Pauline" ... coming from the boards facing the headroom.

I'm thinking to dismount them some day to see if I can add an extra support beneath.

Cheers,

Maurizio

Ciao Maurizio,

you are right, the floorboards in the main cabin between the ladder and the toilet seem to flex too  much.
I have a reinforcement project for the winter season.

Well in any case it is fixed now, at least on my Pauline, tks to my father in law's brilliant idea.

Image 1 shows the concerned zone before we did the job (you can see that Hanse yard's vacuum cleaners were out of order when they mounted the floor).

I glued the plastic hook that you see on the left side of the head door, to hold the vertical sliding hatch; unfortunately there's no clever storage in the 345 like what you can find in the 415 or Dehlers. I'll post something more in another thread.

Image 2 and 3 show the wooden board with adjustable plastic stands that we fitted

Now silence rules again ...

Cheers,

Maurizio

Something that works on many boats is to put rubber or leather on the edges.

First try to glue leather strips around the edges of the lower part (hull).

Put back your floor board and see if it helps.

If it did, remove the floor board and mill out on the edges enough to fit the thickness of the leather in order to get your floor board to have the same height again.

Leather is usually better than rubber as it don’t deteroate after some years. Also it is a living material adapting to different environments you may be in.

Done!

Hi
Your dealer should fix this problem, which is quite common on new Hanse boats, from my experience.
