Just thought we could have a fun weekend in Lochranza on the North End of the Island of Arran..... The date I am proposing is Friday 27th-Sunday 29th June 2014, the reason for this is that Arran Distillery will be holding their Arran Malt and Music festival at this time.
There are plenty of moorings available in Lochranza, with the back drop of the ruined castle at the head of the loch. We cannot obviously book any moorings so it will have to be on an pot luck basis, but I have never been there with all the moorings full, but obviously this weekend may be different.. Just thought we can have a great weekend. 0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0-0 Itinerary from the Arran Distillery... If you are thinking of going then, I suggest you become a "White stag" member. White Stag members are holding a VIP whisky dinner on the Friday evening hosted by Distillery Manager James MacTaggart, before the main day event on Saturday. You can expect whisky masterclasses, fantastic food, island produce and craft, local musicians and distillery exclusive bottlings. All this will be followed in the evening by a ceilidh and fantastic live band. The Sunday will see the survivors lunch take place and a special masterclass with Euan Mitchell. The moorings on Loch Ranza get full very quickly at weekends, as it is a nice day sail from the Clyde marinas.
I have checked on the Events Calender on so at least can see that nobody else has arranged an event there and in fact there quite a number of other events on elsewhere. We will probably be at Kames in the West Kyles with the Fairlie YC crowd, on the Saturday, but may drop in sometime over the weekend.

Just so people are up to speed with things. Tickets are now available for the Arran Malt and music Festival......
http://www.arranevents.com/malt&music2014.php The Saturday Tickets are £5 which includes entrance, spey dram glass, dram token and opportunity to take a guided tour and enjoy the day's festivities. The festivities start at 11.00am But for White stags the partying starts on the Friday with the famous Stag meal. See the Website above for further details...... I would love to come but my wife bought me one of your d..d "My Hanse" flags for Xmas & I am frightened you would all be trying to ponce free scotch off me !!!! Seriously, I will be leaving Bradwell around early/mid June (subject to weather) for another Round England SH trip (taking the whimps option via Cally Canal again). Hopefully when i get near the Isle of Man we can meet up. If you, or any other, are still languishing round the Isle of Arran perhaps we can have a short cruise in company. Will not be there in time for the festival - inspite of my high speed !!!! |

I have got tickets for the Saturday and evening, but as yet have not got tickets to the Friday do. Will have a look at that later today and let you know. We shall be arriving hopefully on the Thursday or poss Wednesday late... Flying the myhanse whisky burgee.... |

This month's Yachting Monthly has Loch Ranza down as one of its favourite Clyde anchorages. So it will probably be even busier than normal. Perhaps you will have to get there on Thursday so you can have a practice finding your way to and back from the Distillery.
