Hi. Has anybody seen or had a mainsheet traveller retrofitted to their 385? I recall reading that Inspiration Marine in the UK may have done this for a customer.

Does anybody feel this would be worthwhile, primarily for further improved pointing ability?

I can't see where you would fit one in the cockpit without having to remove the table and therefore the plotter housing.

So the coach roof looks like the place to fit one, but only the pad eyes for the existing blocks are reinforced and you would need to raise the track a little bit to avoid the deck shape.

I did some research on this and decided that garhauer were the most interested and helpful.

However, as you may have seen, I went for main sheet bridles that require no modification to the boat and improves pointing and sail shape. I'm not convinced that a traveller will add significantly to our performance over and above this, but I'm ready too be proved wrong.

Thanks. I saw the photos of your set up after I posted. I think that's a great way to go and I'm going to give it a go too.

Hi again Mark

I have been looking carefully at your post about the mainsheet bridle and your jimmygreen.co.uk system seems really well thought through. I have dealt with jimmygreens myself and their splicings and ropework etc are really good.

Csn I be cheeky and ask what exactly they supplied you with in the end ie tech specs (dyneema rope?, thickness lengths, splicings etc) and would you modify anything now you've had your own experiences with the new set up?

Thanks, Geoff
