Hi Harvey..
You can just keep the ground cable as it is. It is made in a good way as you describe. It was a old story where the cable was connected to the motor etc. it is several years ago where it was done in that wrong way.

My anode is connected to the aluminium shaft, and no other places. This after advice from Jefa homepage. It is inside the copper-free zone around the rudder shaft.

This setup, separate from the rest of the system with its own anode, makes sense. Glad you got that clarified.

The reason I mounted this little anode was a tiny bit of corrosion on my rudder-shaft. For some years I did not know that there has to be a copper-free antifouling zone around the rudder-shaft.
