Samuel,
I visited my 311 this weekend to find that water stopped weeping out of the two 4mm holes I drilled last Monday. To follow up on Thomas' advice, I'm going to sand down the entire trailing edge of the rudder in Spring and inspect it for cracks. I also felt a small depression with my fingernail at the bottom of the rudder (which I can't get at now) -I probably bumped into something this season, allowing water to penetrate and travel up the laminate. Such are the joys of owning boats |

I can now report that I have drilled holes about to let it all out. The first I did in the side about half way up-- Bone dry The second a quarter of the way down-- Bone dry The third 6 inches from the top ( 150mm for the rest of europe) & guess what-- Bone dry I finally drilled a hole 4 inches from the top and about half a pint of water ran out Not really a problem after all. It is now, !! as I have got to fill the B..... holes in !! Daydream Believer |

Soinds like you have one pf the dodgy ones somilar to mine. I grounded quite lightly off Inverness & shortly after floating gently off the rudder split in half vertically. This ended up in the RNLI towing me to port & a bill for £5k + for a proper rudder from Jefa. When i get back from ostend in september i can send you photos of how badly the old ridder had been made. I am sure most owners would change theirs if they thought theirs was like mine |
