My shower sumps, fore and aft will not drain, the pumps are not running.    The boat is new to me and I do not know how to turn them on, or what breaker they are on.   The boat was winterized and has not been re-commissioned....perhaps the pumps were unplugged over the winter?
Thoughts?

Rob, there must be a switch somewhere in the lav area. The pumps are diaphragm pumps, so freezing should not have been an issue, although you apparently had a pretty tough winter in RI.

Rob,

There are no external switches for these pumps. They are turned on by a electronic switch inside the sump which is attached to the sump lid. These switches sometimes fail but I would not think 2 would fail at the same time. When being winterized maybe the fuses were removed. The fuses are on the lower DC board on the outboard side next to the navigation seat. Remove the larger forward vent and lay on the floor to look at the board. I think the two fuses are XB9.3.20 and XB9.6.36 but could be different on your boat. If the fuses are OK check the electronic switches by disconnecting the power cable from the electronic switch and connect it direct to the sump pump. If the pump starts then the switch is the problem. Replace any failed electronic switch with a standard bilge pump type float switch. Our dealer suggested and supplied flat switches so I could change ours over to float switches. Our first (forward) electronic switch lasted about 12 months and our second (aft) lasted about 3 years.

Rob,

Check out the forum topic

Thanks Wayne!

I’ll look for those fuses under the chart table access panel.   After a hard winter freeze, the house batteries were damaged and I just replaced them. When connecting the new batteries, I noticed an electrical arc as a clear indication that something was drawing power....even though I had the battery disconnects both turned off nextto the chart table chair. The arc was surprisingly strong making me think that a pump or heavier amp drawing device was still connected.....perhaps this was the sump pumps....perhaps one is seized and caused the fuse to blow.

I think my mystery is getting closer to being solved    I wish I had a fuse panel diagram and full electrical diagram.

I’ll get back to the boat tomorrow and hopefully have it tomorrow fixed in a few minutes!

Thanks again

Rob,

Good to hear you are making some headway with your problem.

Send me your email address and I can email you schematics of the AC and DC systems and diagrams of the fuse panel and the WE fuse panel.

Sometimes you can get quite a big current when you connect batteries... without anything drawing power.
Some capasitor someplace might just draw an initial current and then draw almost nothing when charged.

Disconnect and try again. If the arc comes only first time it might be something like this.
Sea-U is a 370e #532 located SW Norway
