The 430 is a great boat BUT I have to have somebody at the anchor to get it up. The problem is the chain does not slide easily down but bunches up below the winch. the frame holding the winch should extend 10cm further forward then the winch could be 10cm further forward and the chain would go easily down. Any thoughts from anybody? I guess a replacement "bracket" on which the winch sits, would be very expensive.

This problem is not unique to the 430, it haunts other models as well. Use the search function in this forum and you'll find at least 3 or 4 solutions that people have implemented.

Rubato is quite correct. Same problem on my 2008 370 & my 415 of 2013. I find it amazing that Hanse's learning curve is so shallow on so many issues. On the 370 there was no access to remove the anchor windlass for servicing or repair. Same problem on the 415. I'm going to have to cut a hole & install a screw in hatch.

I've akready got the inspection hatch, because Hanse forgot to fit my windless during the build!

Hi
I made a stainless chute for the chain to slide down on my 430, it works very well just the last few metres of chain has to be pushed to one side.

In my case the stainless slide did not work but moving the winch on a stainless platform towards the bow solved the problem completely. Move the winch on a platform as up and front as possible and your worries are over.

How many metres of chain have you? I have 130 on my 415 so I'm not sure if your solution would work. Have you a photo of your installation?

130 METERS! Not heard anyone else having that long chain in Hanse. Then we talk about different type of business. I have 60 meters and my boat is Hanse 400. I can send you a picture later but it is a copy of a similar arrangement shown in a thread in this site including also a dimensional drawing of the stainless plate where to the Lewmar winch is to be mounted.

I'm cruising in Greece & it's often deep water. Twice this summer it's been 30 metres so 130 metres of chain is not too much. I think I have to live with flaking the chain on lifting.
