Has anyone fitted a Volvo Penta NEMA 2000 Interface to their D1, D2 or D3 engine? The Interface enables the viewing of engine data on your MFD/plotters.

No but I am seriously considering it. There is a wiring kit available from VP that just plugs into the box on the port side of the engine. It's around £200 I understand.
Like you, I would be very interested to hear from anyone who has fitted this.

I have this one, but that's on Yanmar. http://www.albacombi.com/
Works perfect together with Simrad NSS 7. I guess its possible to use on Volvo as well? |

The Volvo 'black box' (mounted on the port side of the D range of engines) already produces the engine data in NMEA2000 (CANBUS) format. All that is needed is a Y cable to add another NMEA drop to the plotter. Volvo can supply the required cable but it costs around £200. |

I have oilpressure, rpm and coolwatertemp. so far. It's possible to have a lot more. Next will be fuelgauge and batterymonitoring. |

£200 for a NMEA 2000 cable from VP? Ouch! Chance to create a drop via some DIY NMEA2000 cabling perhaps? See Panbo's clues at http://www.panbo.com/archives/2008/02/n2k_cable_mixing_not_a_big_woop.html which I used for a SeatalkNG to Simnet join.
