I just bought a used Hanse 345 (2013 mod) and I'm wondering if anyone know what brand and type that Hanse Yacht use for antifouling and primer?
I know that it has 3 layers of primer and 2 layer of self polishing antifouling, but I have no idea what brand and type it is? Need to know as I will need to add another layer of antifouling and don't want to mess up by using a brand that will result in a chemical reaction with the original stuff. Thanx! best regards Lidvar Kornberg

Lidvar,
I a round about way I received as an example a certificate for a 345 from Yachtwerft who apply the antifouling and primer in Greifswald for Hanse and their certificate listed Mille Ultimate which I think is a Hemple antifouling product. The certificate was dated 26 March 2013 so your yacht could have the same product. I would have thought your boat would have had a copy of a certificate onboard. Maybe Yachtwerft in Greifswald could advise you if you tell them what your vessels hull number is. Their email address appears to be info@yachtwerft-hgw.de |

Hi Wayne,
Thanks for the answer! My Hanse 345 is also from March 2013 so it should then have the same antifouling. I will look through the papers again. Can't remember to have seen any certificate for this, but I will have another look. If I don't find it I will verify by sending them a email to the address you privided. best regards Lidvar Kornberg

Great! Then I'm pretty sure that Mille Ultimate is used :-)
What is the experience so far with Mille Ultimate? Any reason to find a different brand/type? I have not yet lifted up the boat from the sea so I don't know how it looks like after a year in the sea. I will do this during the summer and my plan was to apply antifouling then.

Hi Lidvar,
My Hanse 345 was built in April 2013 and I took her without antifouling. I then applied Coppercoat myself and sofar I'm pretty happy, after one year only little cleaning was needed with high-pressure water. Brgds, Maurizio |

Our 385, delivered in May 2013, also has the Hempel Mille Ultimate, and our previous 320, delivered in 2010, as well. So I think this is a Hanse standard for a long time?
In my view and experience a very good antifouling, which needs replacement (additional layer(s)) each 2 years max, but preferably each year. Easy to apply, no preparations needed, except the standard "shaving" of the hull when hauled out end of season. Machiel.

The yard do not apply antifouling. The dealers who gets the boat delivered in Greifswald, order this from external Companies. i.e Yachtwerft. They can then specify themeself what to be used. The dealer is therfore the best Place to check this.

I understand that IMG (UK) use International Micron Extra (grey) or the contractors' equivalent.
