I am planning an offshore voyage in 2020, and I'm preparing a list of work to be done beforehand. First on the list is replacing all seacocks and through hulls. Mine are all original except one, and all valves are still functional. Still, I don't know of a non-destructive way of testing them so replacement seems the best option.

Trudesign would be my first choice, but they are a bit bulkier than the DZR brass originals. The head outlet in particular seems tight for space. In addition I am thinking of adding a Y-Valve to bypass the holding tank for offshore.

So my question is, have any 371 owners replaced the fittings, and if so, with what? DZR, real bronze or plastic?

I appreciate any advice. I know this topic is covered in some other forums, but I'm specifically interested in the 371.

I bought Trudesign thruhulls after determining there is enough space for them. Will install them at my next haulout.

Boat hauled for bottom painting. Through hulls below waterline replaced with Trudesign. Very glad I did this as the large Toilet outlet crumbled when cutting it out.

The original fittings seem to be DZR or plain brass. I should have changed them sooner.

Reassuringly the hull is plenty thick, about 16mm where the through hulls are, solid glass and well laminated. I have great confidence in the hull integrity.

Good to read and know. 16mm full glass seems enough. Love to see pictures when the Truedesigns are fitted Graham.

Through hulls installed and working, no leaks.

Hi graham,

Did you end up installing a trudesign Y-valve?

Regards,
Peter

There are no Y-Valves in my setup. The toilet pumps directly into the holding tank, and it has an electric pump plumbed to the outlet. Direct overboard discharge is not possible.
