Does anyone have a drawing of the 455/458 210 liter diesel fuel tank which includes the dimensions ?
I would like to do an accurate calculation of the actual fuel volume as a function of the height of the fuel level as measured by the fuel sender float.

Hi Jonny,

Took some dims a few months ago with intention of doing something similar but never did. Might keep you going until something more 'propper' appears.

Dims make no allowance for skin thickness.

Top of tank is flat with RH top corners being right-angles in all three planes.

Be interested to see how close to 210-litre it is.

Cheers.

Hi everyone, to get accurate reading of the fuel tank you dont need to go thru the exercise to measure its
awkward shape, all you need to do is to have an empty tank and your favorite diesel station, you fill up a gallon and record the reading on the DC panel, you fill another gallon and record another reading and so on until you have the tank full and the reading of 100%. Thats what we did when I picked my boat at Greifswald but I lost that table unfortunately.

When I collected my new boat the gauge was not working.
I left port with a full tank (pump handle cut out), after 25 hours of motoring I got a low fuel alarm on the panel and when I filled again to full it took 182 liters so
I am assuming there are 182 liters of ‘usable’ fuel in the tank.

The high consumption of 7.28 liters per hour is because I was running in the engine and that had to be done at high revs.

Today after almost two years the consumption is 4.5 liters per hour at 2300 revs .

Since then I have installed a new gauge and calibrated it by filing from empty 20 liters at a go and taking note of the fuel gauge reading. That’s the best way to do it I would think . Unfortunately the gauge i installed is not the same as the factory one so my table will not work for others .

Engine is 80hp.
