How did you access the bilges on a Hanse? did you lift all the floorboards and make holes fiberglass?

How does a roaming bilge pump work? I'm guessing its not one to rely on, =since if your boat is sinking your not exactly going to have time to unscrew and lift up all the floorboards ?
