Have a look at my site, repainted the hull of my Dehler https://www.uisge-beatha.eu/2018/10/Blauwe-romp-schuren. There are several articles and pictures taken during the process.

Glad that i am not the boat that has to moor next to you. I bet you will  have eyes like daggers if it turns up with dirty fenders alongside your lovely new topsides.
I think that you will have to invest in lots of brand new 200mm round ones to keep everyone away from you.
Have you had words with Simon to make sure that the committee boat is kept well clear yet?????

Does anyone has an advice for fenders? Fender covers or not? The seasalt and the sand are very harmful for the (fresh-painted) hull, but they get into some covers...
@Samuel. With some luck 'Daydream Believer' moores next to Pieterman this summer. Smile

Pieter
I really hate boats coming alongside me with fender covers. I have had several with tiny bits of grit in the covers & they have left circular marks in my hull. I can imagine them doing lots of damge to your boat because of the sand that blows off the beach when you are not on board.
You only need one windy day  with a north wind. Your fenders will be covered in fine grit & the swell in the harbour will make your boat rock back & forth, leaving great gouges in a lovely paint job

As for mooring next to you- I am worried.Cry
The paulusfeesten starts 11 August so I want to arrive 8 August.(I am staying until 30 August)
Trouble is that the Dragons are there from the 02 - 11 August. That means there may not be room for me when I arrive.
Emily will almost certainly send me away if I arrive late at night.Cry
I have absolutely no desire to moor up near to the, "ladies of the night"  at the other marina, miles from the  RNSYC.  I need my lunchtime beer every day, It is what i look forward to.
Somehow, i will have to have words with Simon a week or so before & cry on his shoulder!!!!Wink

Conclusion: fender covers on salt water and sandy environment are not a good idea. OK.

But what are the good ideas to protect a fresh painted or polished hull when mooring alongside another boat or pontoon?

@Gregor
Thank you for the nice movies on your site. I sure liked the pulley-system you made to sand the hull. Thumbs Up
