Feel like I'm being shouted-down here.
I trust the independent view.

No way, Ian! What you generally get on forums like this is 'the sum of all our fears', so I understand it can feel a bit shouty at times - apologies. I see anchoring as a blend between science and art, though sometimes with a bit of luck thrown into the pot. Always useful to learn how others manage it, except for the muppet in Mupe Bay last year who used my anchor chain instead of using his own...

My experience with old anchors is when they get a 180 deg pull during tide change and or big blow when side on to a gust, they break free and don't reset, the new generation anchors reset much better/faster and have superior holding power.
Never dragged on any of the new gen anchors but plenty on old school ones, in real world they are far superior.
