Thanks for the advise Peter-Blake.

The sailing photos with the Code 0 are in different wind angles, if I recall right somewhere in range 45...65 apparent. We were catching up my friend's boat but couldn't pass him from the wind side because he lifted up so we tried from another side. We were faster but unfortunately that time we reached our destination and had to take sails down.

That is very much like a large genoa. When I got it last summer I was disappointed how small the sail looked. To me it was really difficult to believe that it's 62m2 in size but that's what the sailmaker confirmed when I complained. I let it be because it's so damn difficult to measure the sail without a proper place and I hesitate to use another sailmaker for that.

Now the strategy is not to use genoa at all but instead this Code 0 in light winds and angles from 35 to 90. For tacking we will have a good quality st/108% jib whit a quite wide wind range. For down wind sailing we will have a large gennaker from North Sails. With those and the new main we also ordered from North I'm happy with the sail gear. Not that I was disappointed to boat speed last summer, but it still can be improved. The main point is to make sailing easy and enjoyable.

From your pictures it looks like the the bowsprit is bent upwards.
Is this the standard Hanse Sprit?
If yes to both questions I guess that means I will need to strengthen my Hanse sprit or buy another.
Sail looks very nice I noticed that you fly from the where the jib hallards are  not spin hallards are top of mast. Does everyone do this?

Are you (all) using a 1:1 Halyard for the Code 0 or a 2:1 purchase (maybe on the bottom side) ?

The bowsprit on the 371 is not straight forward looking but with an angle of about 40°.

Here are few additional photos of our H371 bow sprit which is Hanse standard. It doesn't take sail much out from the bow and is angled but as it was available there it was easy choise. We are using Code 0 with the spinnaker halyard but surely to have it top of the mast would make the sail bigger. I guess it's ok even though the front luff has to be tight hard if you go upwind as we do. That is critical to make the sail work. So far we have been using the polyester halyard but I'm going to have an additional one made of dyneema.

BTW the sailmaker said that Code 0 sizes can vary from 55m2 up to 80m2 for boat size of H371. We ordered it small and flat because of the purpose we intend to use the sail. In addition we'll have 102m2 gennaker with a snuffer. That will also be used with the bow sprit.

Did you had any issues with furling the sail? What kind of furler are you using? I have a selden mast and I'm concerned that the Spi halyard is not far enought above the forestay (like yours)

Blake:  I was interested i your comment that you ly your gennaker from the mast top and not from the factory location above the jib halyard.  Did you add anything to compensate for the increased strain on the rig?

Markku:  Do you think that the speed that the Code 0 adds compensates for the greater angle as you sail upwind?  I do a lot of light air sailing and looking for the right combination of sails.
