I was thinking of putting some USB sockets somewhere in the cockpit. One idea is to connect a car cigarette lighter socket to the socket where the outside table light is. Then there are plenty of adapters for various uses.

My question is. Is the light connection any type of standard that I could buy somewhere and then wire up to another cigarette lighter socket?

It seems like the easiest non intrusive solution. But any other suggestions welcome.

Thanks for any help
Sean

I should clarify what I am trying to do. I am talking about the external table lamp. I was thinking to get a connection the same as the lamp has. But I would connect this up when the lamp is not connected. If I can get the connection, I can wire it how I like. But the issue is getting the connection.

Hi, it is easy enough to get to the cockpit light wiring. Just gently pride off the cover and unscrew the base, but this circuit is only live when the house lights are turned on.
All the best

I have considered that as another option if I cannot find a plug to fit in the light socket fitting. Thanks

Hi , I have added a Scanstrut USB port adjacent to the table lamp.Itís waterproof and designed for the job.
I have a 2016 415 with chartplotter in a stainless box which I had to drill through, but with your GRP it is easier to drill with a hole saw. Wiring to lamp was easy and whilst on the boat the light circuit is on all the time anyway.
