That sound like my kind of mod. However I only have the one house battery so would need to fit a second. Have you just done one winch or both main deck head ones?

I wonder why you use aft winch to hoist the mainsail ? I know it is possible on H355 but not very handy.
With the wich located under halyard jammer the line overlaped on winch, doesn't it ? I must say that fitting an electric winch kit just in shower ceiling should not be very convenient although.

Hi Rob,only upgraded PS winch, for comfortable hoisting mainsail. Hi Iemand, lewmar had a "special offer" in Holland; 30% discount on Retail price, ST40 ocean eur 1745 (incl discount). in total with small electric parts eur 2000. I did the job in two days. most time consuming was bolting the electric motor to the winch base flange (had to customize two spanners) Hi Bruno, indeed the shower ceiling is no option, i did modify the PS way of line handling as SB, see my previous post upgrade jib sheet (2015) I use the PS aft winch for main sail hoist and boom brake control line handling. the SB aft winch for jib sheet control and boom brake control line handling. the cabin roof winches are used for jib halyard, trim lines(down haul, cunningham, topping lift) and reef 1 and 2.

I did a similar upgrade last year. Ever since I purchased my Hanse400 from 2006 I have been searching for the electrical upgrade kit for the pre 2008 Harken 40ST winch. Lasts summer I finally found a complete winch (however in chrome finish). The drum from my old aluminum winch was possible to re-use so now I can hoist my main and code-zero by the touch of a finger. Note that the Harken design allows both gear ratios to be used (that's why there is two switches) I have still not covered the motor/gear box but i manage to hide all cables to the batteries and fuze panel behind the inner line (the small cables to the switches was not fixed by cableglands when the picture was taken)
