Hello All,
I managed to install a fusion ra70N including connection to the zeus 3 plotter. The part I still have to do is installing the speakers in the cockpit. I heard Stuart wondering why the speakers aren't installed the opposite way (Near the life raft companion and the gas locker). Before starting to install, what do you forum members advice? Regards Chris. By the way, unhappenly I don't have the preinstalled speaker cables.

I am very happy with my installation. I have the speakers facing forward towards the steering wheels. You will need to take care in positioning the port speaker as the clearance between the moulding for the life raft is a little tight.
I am not on board at the moment but will try to add a picture when I am back at the weekend. |

Hi Chris. Getting the wires to the external speakers was a great deal easier then to the internal ones!
There is a conduit (empty on my boat) that runs from the box beside the shower to the aft end of the void under the port cabin berth. I started in the aft cabin and used a cable "mouse" to feed wires through into the shower box. From the shower area it is simple to route them forward to the switch panel. Similarly it is simple to get into the rear void from the space under the aft berth. |

My speakers are the FR6021 Fusion 6" units which require a 130mm diameter hole for mounting.
I measured very carefully before cutting and there was just enough room to fit them as shown in the pics below. I did end up having to shave a little glass-fibre from the rear of the life raft holder as I slightly underestimate the depth of the speaker, but it was only a millimeter or two. My FM aerial connection came directly off the NSPL-400 splitter that the boat came with so that was simple for me. P.S. I have had some great sailing since we met in Enkhuizen. One North Sea crossing to Harwich and several Channel crossings. Blessed by amazing weather for much of the summer. One more extended cruise (500Nm) to the Scilly Islands starts on Friday.
