Hi Stephen,
Sorry I only just got this message! I have also just placed an order for a code 0. Id like to have a chat to you about yours and your design though because my designer is adamant that I dont want more than 70sqm. I dont have your number... Jeremy 0275043040

Hi Jeremy, i think 75m2 is ideal, optimal size, i purchased my code as remade sail being sold off as cancelled order and it is larger at 90m2.
Whilst a little larger the sail is high tech cloth and cost me US$2,800 inc freight so i can live with additional size. If you pop me your email i will send through the design Doyles did for me locally at 75m2 so you can compare. I have gone with selden cx25 fuller, you can also purchase an additional swivel for this unit to make top down and suitable for gennaker as well/ Stephen Edited by StavrosNZ - 07 February 2019 at 00:09 |

There are differences in how sq m are calculated, so you may just find that the apparent difference here doesn't really exist. A sailmaker's area will differ quite a bit from the area calculated under IRC rules, for example.
Good luck with the zero. |

Hello, I have a 415 and code zero + genaker. In order for the code zero to perform optimally, I need to install e new sheeting point, but all the factory enforcements in the railing are occupied. Any experience with this?
I can drill holes in the railing and put in enforcements, but it is "some" work. Other solutions? |

Size and the genaker is not (usually anyway) tight on the uphawl. If you want to sail upwind with the code zero, there is a lot of power on the uphawl.

Hi Tor
Attached is a photo of our sheeting point for our Code 0 and Gennaker, this was the factory fitted position and has reinforcement under the fibreglass. If you look in the third page of the Manuals and Drawings section of this website you will find the reinforcement drawing for the 415. Personally I wouldn't recommend fitting an attachment without the deck reinforcement as the loads are considerable. All the best Paul |

Hello and thanks Paul, and thanks for your reply. I havet his one for Code Zero/genaker at the back. However, in order to use the code zero optimally I need a sheeting point a bit forward of amidship. I will definitely put in enforcements, either 6 mm aluminium og 3 mm stainless.

Haven't yet used my Genneker on all points of sail yet, but it seems to set nicely using the blocks in each quarter (as indicated in the photo of a 415 above). I'm assuming you want to run a barber hauler onto the sheet as you said from fwd of amidships. Could you not do this from the mid cleat, even if you have to run a block off that and back to a winch. It's going to be hard accessing under the deck to do the reinforcement you need

Very likely same issue, I posted this an hour ago: "Hello, I have a 415 and code zero + genaker. In order for the code zero to perform optimally, I need to install a new sheeting point, but all the factory enforcements in the railing are occupied. Any experience with this?
I can drill holes in the railing and put in enforcements, but it is "some" work. Other solutions?" I have the drawing showing enforcements and I naively believed that they were put in for trim points, but no. I now believe that I will drill holes in the railing and put enforcements in (pre threaded). Selden 72 mmm pad-eyes are my choise and I plan one piece of enforcement at aft two bolts and on for the two fore bolts. This in order to avoid making one big hole. Mvh Tor email: tnis@equinor.com. |

Hi, I am not sure why you need new sheeting points, if the sail was designed for the aft sheeting points it should work fine for the apparent wind angles it was designed for. We use ours when the apparent is 50 degrees or above to maybe 90 degrees, above that we would use a downwind sail. Below 50 degrees we can set the code 0 but the leeway is not worth it.
We use an outhaul / barber hauler on the self tacking jib when fine reaching or if the wind is too strong to use the code 0 In six years of use I have never thought I wish I could vary the sheeting angle for the code 0. If the clew of the code 0 got anywhere near midships then we change sail. All the best Paul |
