I am looking at adding a light air sail to the wardrobe this coming winter. Has anyone added a Gennaker to their 355 , did the attachment points need to be updated on the bowroller , what dimensions etc?

Thanks in advance.

Matt

The attachment point is probably strong enough, however there are posts in here highlighting the whole bow roller unit lifting from the hull.

There are two solutions:

1. Fit a bobstay either wire or Dyneema.
2. Fit a Selden bowsprit.

We did the second solution on our 320 and it works a treat

I'm thinking to set a gennaker on my Hanse 355 for years.  So I had time to think (& re-think) about it.
Attachement soldered on forestay chaineplate is surely strong enough but too close from jib furler drum.  You cannot use it with a gennaker furler.
Anchor roller fitting on H355 is too thin for purpose.  It will bend.
You need to add a sturdy bowsprit (87 mm).  If you set a flat gannaker (code 0 - code 1) it is highly recommended to add a water stay to the bowprit.
Alternative : A bowsprit like Batsystem Streamline 80 or 100 (there's promotion video showing this on a Hanse 355 !) or a SS bowsprit (see also Batsystem).
For a gennaker (especially with furler), a new halyard should be fitted nearly half way between forestay upper  fitting and masthead (I have exact measurement from Selden Mast about it.  I should have a look in my papers)
By the way, if you only plan to sail a deep asymetric spinnaker, orginal attachment & halyard is all you need.
Hope this helps.

Right , I am now at a point of getting a quote from Norths for a cruising genny. Has anyone got measurements for a genny that has been sized for the 355? Tks

As far as I remember a flat gennaker (code 0 or 1) fitted with a bwsprit is approx 60 m².
On the other hand, a full depth asymetric spinnaker sizes approx 85 - 90 m².
So a "crusing genny" (= c2 or A1) is somewhere between.
