I'd like to put a 125% genoa in.
at the moment I have lewmar st 40 winches, do you think that's enough for a 38 meters genoa. If not what size do you have on your H370 or 375 for a genoa. best regards |

I think the 40s will do fine but I did upgrade and add a set of 46s. However, I sail with a 135 and a 155. The 155 really benefits from the larger winches even though the 40s handle both well.

I upgraded last year to a pair of used harken 44st
It all worked with the 40 st from harken and I had a 46 m2 genua, but the 44st make live more easy😀 Sinds my 46 m2 genua was riped appart I use the standard 42 m2 genua and ofcourse this also workes very well with the 44 st winches. Gr Marcel

The size of the Genoa is not relevant for the size of the winch but just the righting moment. A Genoa 3 will cause the same loads just in higher windspeed.
I think that the 40 will work with long handles hower generally are undersized for the Genoa since winches can not be too big. I have 46 for the genoa and have the 40 as mainsail whinches and halyard. Since winches are very expensive in the after market I would stick to the size. BR Thomas

I upgraded the 4 standard 40st Lewmars on my 375, and replaced same with 46st Lewmar. Easy change
and actually proved very helpful especially for Gennaker / Spi sailing. Cost-wise also ok as you appear to be able to buy used 46' at similar prices you sell 40'. Can only recommend same. Best, Adrian

i have upgraded the rooftop winches.
For the main halyard I placed a harken STE 40 electric winch and on the other side á harken st 44. The ST 40 went to the side for use of my genua as extra winches. Now total of 3 st 44 , 2 st 40 and 1 ste 40. |
