Hi Andrea & Ian
That's really kind. Believe I'm sorted though now - and have ordered Quick FVSLRSB05220A00 OSP KIT ELEC ELEMENT BOILER 500W 220V from here: https://www.sparesmarine.co.uk. Best wishes Richard

This is really helpful. Many thanks Andrea & Ian.
Do you happen to know the make/model/capacity of the calorifier/immersion heater on your boat? Best wishes Richard

Hi Richard,
There is two circuit breakers and three RCDs to consider! This for a 445; expect the 455 is little different. Circuit breakers:- AC panel below chart table; bottom right 'switch' on my boat. Victron Multiplus behind port side couch; front panel 'reset' button. RCDs:- AC panel below chart table. IP67 box in port side cockpit lazerette; aft end below main winch. Pontoon pillar. Hope that helps. |

Many thanks Kipwrite - most helpful.
I'll follow this up - I need to get a 240 volt heater. I'm away from the boat now. Best wishes Richard

On my 505, the circuit breaker for the water heater is on the AC panel, below the AC breakers, on the right side. There may also
be a fuse.
I suspect you may need a new heating element: https://www.quickusastore.com/boat-supply/water-heaters/spare-parts/electric-elements/ The old element and attached zinc come out fairly easily. You should not need to unplug the unit to adjust the thermostat. Sounds like this was wired incorrectly. |

This weekend I had my first sail of the season - accompanied by some of my family including 2 young grandsons. It was a delight to be out on the water again - and in fine weather. We found a quiet and safe anchorage to over night by Hurst Spit at the western end of the Solent.
But I have a question; my 240v water heater isn't working. I accessed the thermostat control - (hopefully) photo attached - and rotated the thermostat temperature setting to hear the click. Foolishly I did this without unplugging the power supply and received an electric shock for my efforts. After feeling a little dizzy initially and with some lingering burn pain in my thumb I'm pretty much recovered now. However the boat isn't. I must have (thankfully) tripped a circuit breaker but I don't know where it is located on the 455. I'm away from the boat and want to send an electrician down to attend to it. (I've no idea what has happened with the immersion heater by the way. The reset button had not popped out). Thanks for any advice. Richard |
